I've recently retaken GMAT and got the score of 710 - just the thing I need to apply to business schools of my choice.

I would highly recommend Manhattan GMAT online materials and especially its 6 CAT exams and question banks as perfect resources to prepare to become GMAT winner. For me the most important thing that distinguishes Manhattan from other prep courses is the level of difficulty of questions it contains. I should admit I found them tougher than actual questions I encounter on the real exam. So going through these challenging questions enormously helped me on the real exam as I am a kind of person who feel anxiety under time pressure and as a result may choose incorrect answer. Additionally, I should mention that Manhattan provides very clear explanations of each answer choice so it takes not so much time to go through all of them in comparison with other study guides that are too much focused on detail and lack concepts that help to choose the right answer in the quickest way.

I can’t imagine getting score of 710 without using Manhattan prep course and I recommend it to everyone who is going to apply to top business schools.

My journey from 580 to 710

GMAT ScoresBefore: 580   After: 710

My journey began 8 months back with a tutorial GMAT course at a local institute. My 1st attempt was on September 1, 2010. Scored 580 (Q 45, V 25). But was expecting around 650. So was completely shocked and took to the books again in 20 days. I took MGMAT CATs just 10 days before the 1st attempt and my scores were averaging around 660.

So, sometime during my 2nd stint I contacted MGMAT online forum and requested for guidance and reasons for the variation. They provided me with all the necessary articles but for some reason I stuck to my own study plan and used these articles pretty vaguely. And that reflected on my 2nd attempt. I scored 630 (Q 46, V 31). But this time my scores in preliminary tests (MGMAT CATs) were constant (650) and close to the final score.

So decided to take a final hit at GMAT and this time seriously worked on the basics from various articles that were mentioned earlier. I was just reviewing OG-12 and MGMAT CATs for most of the time and they played a huge role in the improvement. I was expecting somewhere around 670 but was shocked to see the final score. The score was a dream till that day and now I'm living in that dream. I would recommend to whoever looking for help to contact MGMAT and follow their articles vigorously and those articles will definitely fetch you results just as in my case. I took them as a joke till the final attempt but when I decided I need the score the most, I went for it full on. However, I need to mention that I always knew I had the capacity to score 700 but was missing on few things or faltering at the last moment. MGMAT helped in that sense too.

I can go on and on about how MGMAT helped me achieve 710 (Q 49, V 39). But the bottom line is 'MGMAT works'. Give it a try and you'll love it.

MGMAT - The Self Guided Study Prep

GMAT ScoresBefore: N/A   After: 700

When I first started preparing for the GMATs, I had no direction and no method. I was just borrowing GMAT prep books from the library, and going through the problems without a lot of thought on strategy and timing.
After doing this for about 3 weeks, I decided to take a GMAT practice exam. I thought I was ready to see the actual test. Well, let me tell you--that practice exam was not pretty. Thank goodness I was able to take it in the confines of my own home, where my shame was not publicly known. Fine, I'll share the score (only to show you how far MGMAT took me, not so that you can ridicule me)--a 540.

That's when I realized I need to have a study strategy. I didn't have the time nor the budget to enroll in a full course, so I did research on all the test-prep companies' self study kits. I ultimately decided on the MGMAT one because it looked extremely comprehensive, and offered a lot of things I was looking for. Some of my favorite things in the self-guided prep:

1) the syllabus. it was organized in a way that made sense, and was very clear in the assignments. As long as you have self-discipline, this class can work for you.

2) the OG tracker. an excel spreadsheet that allowed you to track all of your OG answers and the time it took you to finish the problem. fantastic tool, because it analyzed your responses and i was able to see all the areas i was really slow and inaccurate in and vice versa. Loved this!

3) the Online Labs. While the Self Guided Study Prep does NOT include class recordings, it does have a series of 9 online labs for students to access. So good! These labs enhance all the stuff you're learning in the books, and also cover a lot of test taking strategy. My favorites were the Essay writing one and the timing strategy one.

After I finished the Self Guided curriculum, I signed up for the GMATs.
I'm pretty happy with my final score (700 / 6 AWA), and thank the MGMAT materials for getting me there.

As long as you have plenty of self-discipline (cause you'll need it), then this class is for you.

Good For Self-Study

The main reason I went with Manhattan GMAT initially was on a recommendation from someone who took the course. As someone who did not have time to take the course and is generally bored in classroom settings I felt like the self-study curriculum was the way to go.

For a very reasonable price you get 9 guides that cover the range of question types (both verbal and quantative) covered on the exam. Each of the 9 guides give you in depth strategies to tackle each question type. They are organized simply and provide a set of questions at the end of each "lesson" which test what you just learned.

Along with the 9 study guides come the 3 offical guides from GMAC (The "Official Guide", "Verbal Review" and "Quantative Revew". These have a ton of sample questions in them which is nice. What is really cool about Manhattan is that they also provide another book that explains all of the quantative answers in "The Official Guide" in a simple fashion. This is good because is seems as if the quantative answer explanations in the Official Guide are unclear in a lot of instances.

Overall I am happy with the purchase and will recommend Manhattan to anyone who asks about a test prep program. I have also heard many good things about their in-class courses from a couple of friends.

My GMAT score before using the Manhattan GMAT review series : 610

My GMAT score after 3 months and painstaking practice using nothing but these study aides : 700

I used The MGMAT foundation math and 5 other math strategy guides plus the sentence correction strategy guide. It takes you through every technique you need to learn step by step from the easy stuff to the hard stuff. It took me 2 months just to get through the math guides. For those with good self motivation this is highly effective learning and vastly cheaper than a tutor or a boot-camp. Personally, unless you are extremely squeezed for time I would recommend this guide series as the FIRST step in you study process. Tutors and other books/practice tests/workshops etc can be used to fine tune later if you need it. Boot camps probably teach you what you would learn on your own given time. If you purchase the guides with MGMAT you get access to their excellent online practice CATs. The detailed feedback on the CATs is invaluable for targeting your weak areas and to enhance your exam strategy and techniques.

Excellent quality, top class teaching materials. All you need to get a high score.

I was careless the first time, and got butchered. The 2nd time I got a better score. All I used were MGMAT Guides and Official Guides (all 3). I think this is all anyone needs. Good luck!
