GMAT Focus 745 all thanks to TTP

TLDR: TTP works. PROS: the structure and formatting, the dashboard experience, and the practice tests. CONS: Data Insights (DI) should have higher visibility and weightage otherwise you run out of time to prepare it effectively. DETAILS: I had contemplated taking the GMAT since 2019, and even acquired the OG guide and sat for a couple of in-person classes back then. Felt like I was too dumb for it. Gave up. I then worked on myself for a couple years, and went through the pandemic underestimating myself and not making much of an effort in this direction. During this time I kept seeing TTP being praised on Reddit and also saw how active Scott was in answering questions, and hence started thinking about TTP as the way to go. I finally took the plunge, bought the course in July, but due to priorities at work, was able to start in earnest in mid-September. Spent around 300 hours in the next couple of months working through the material. Ended up with GMAT Focus 745 (Q90 / V88 / D83). Very happy with the results. Here's what really worked: 1. TTP has a beautiful structured approach. Everything is divided into missions and there's a sense of accomplishment one gets when something called a "mission" is completed. Missions are grouped in order of increasing difficulty so at no point do you feel underprepared for what's facing you, you have the context you need. 2. The writers at TTP exude a sense of boundless optimism. In a world where most people talk about the difficulty of GMAT and suggest hacks and tricks to face it, TTP lays it out clear and tells you that yes, it's difficult but if you prepare well and think logically, you can be competitive. And I think that's what most people need - someone to tell you that if you follow the rules, you can win the game. TTP does that well. 3. The dashboard is the real winner. Seeing the number of hours you've put in in a week, seeing what % of the course you've completed, seeing your overall accuracy in the questions attempted, all these are markers that push the climber up the mountain. I don't think I would have stuck to the course with discipline unless such markers were present. Thanks for coming up with this incredible dashboard. Word of Caution: With the GMAT Focus Edition, there's a new animal in town called "Data Insights". TTP prepares you very well for one part of it called "Data Sufficiency" as those questions are well integrated with the Quant section itself, however, there are 4 other parts to it. These 4 parts are covered at the very end of the course. These 4 parts are huge time suckers and require you to pay attention and practice a lot. Given that I worked on my prep for only 2 months, this meant that I spent only a week on DI, and that led to me eventually not practicing well enough to manage time properly in the DI section on Test day. So don't think that just because it's 4 chapters, it can be done in minimal time. Invest as much time in DI as you do in Quant and Verbal. In summary: TTP is worth it. Sets you up on the right path and motivates you to stick to it. Highly recommended.

Very Good Resource for Quant

Very thorough lessons, especially in regards to the Quant section. As someone who's reading skill is far better than his quantitative reasoning, and especially considering that I hadn't extensively done any hard math problems in over four years, TTP was what I needed to boost my confidence and my score. This program will form a steady foundation for and understanding of the GMAT as a whole, but I especially recommend this course for anyone struggling with the Quant section. Being able to access so many questions in one place and take mini-tests was a major boon, as it allowed me to get a feel for what GMAT questions would look like. The course does take a decent amount of time to complete (around 4 months), but it is worth every minute. Overall, TPP is a course that is well worth the price.

The only GMAT resource you'll ever need

October 30, 2023

TTP was the best resource I could have asked for to prepare for the GMAT. Before I began studying, I had no idea how to effectively study and wasted a few months solving random OG practice questions without actually learning the material. After searching for a more structured study plan, I found TTP was the most recommended choice and decided to stick with it after my $1 one week trial given how thorough it is. Turned out to be a great choice. TTP basically holds your hand all throughout the process and is so detailed and simple to use that you don't need any other resources to study for the GMAT. The study plan has you alternate between Quant and Verbal so you never lose focus on either section and ends each lesson with practice tests that ensure you don't forget what you just learned. As everyone says, the Quant section is amazing, but the Verbal section was also a lifesaver for me, more so given that English is not my first language. Every single topic the GMAT could ask you is covered in the lessons. This ensures the score you get is not luck-based, my practice tests were 10-20 points from my real GMAT score, and I was able to exceed my target score on my first try. I really believe that TTP is the best plan out there with its combination of lessons, practice questions, practice tests, and video explanations, keeping you engaged every step of the way.

Easy, Practical and Complete Package

The strengths of this course are simple and easy-to-understand material which is followed by different levels of practice problems to reinforce the concept learned and Explanatory videos that help in understanding the solution to the problems. This course is a complete package. It helped me improvise and reinforce my weaker area in GMAT which is the SC section. The course is perfect as it contains not only simple and Easy-to-understand read-through material but is also followed by practice problems and explanatory videos. It is for anyone trying to prepare to give their best in the GMAT exam. The customs tests as well as the Summary sheets for Quants and Idioms played a major role in helping me increase my scores. Through doing this course, I only felt that I would have been much happier had I found this course much earlier. I would surely recommend this TTP course to anyone and at least start with the trial 5-Day period to see for yourself how this course works magic. In your GMAT journey, May the Course be with you!

I scored a 720 (Q48 V41) when I first did their quantitative program and then went on to score a 760 (Q48 V48) when I completed their verbal program. TTP is the most comprehensive, effective and accessible GMAT test prep program that a candidate needs to achieve a +700 score. The study plan is well-structured and intuitive, covering all the sections of the GMAT in a coherent way. I barely needed to use the chat option to talk to their experts, who were very supportive and encouraging, as the course material and explanations to practice questions were very clear and thorough. The program also provides invaluable advice on how to improve test-taking strategies and time management skills in its strategy sections. I highly recommend TTP to anyone who is serious about improving their GMAT score.

TTP was invaluable to my GMAT prep. All of the material that is on the test is covered with considerable depth, with a seemingly unending number of practice problems to go through and tons of lessons that will break down everything that you need to know. Even as a former English teacher, I found the way they approach the verbal section to be very helpful, as while I would disagree with some of the answers initially, the breakdown and explanation of why a specific answer was correct did a great job of demonstrating what the GMAT considers to be correct, not just what is the cleanest English. The same goes for all of the quant lessons, as the step by step solutions and videos were immensely helpful in understanding how to approach problems and in fully grasping the material. The way the lessons are broken down into smaller sections is also helpful, as it's a good way to feel like you're making progress as you work your way through the vast amount of material

TTP helped me score 760 on GMAT!

I was scoring around 630 on the GMAT Mocks and was clueless about how to handle the Verbal section especially. I was scoring around 28 to 30 on the GMAT Verbal. RC and SC were main concerns for me as I did not have an approach to go with. I realized that I needed to start with basics of SC and RC. I enrolled for the TTP Dedicated Study plan and started focusing on individual areas of each section. I improved heavily on SC and RC scoring around 85% on the Example and Sectional Test questions. Once I attempted official mocks after completing the TTP course, I was scoring around 740. On the test day, I was confident of a 730+ score. I scored 760.

I definitely recommend using this prep course and for the best results, use it in conjunction with the official MBA standard and advanced prep questions.

Extremely impressed with TTP

Took the GMAT recently and scored a 750 (Q49, V44, IR7, AWA6). I used the regular program at TTP for 2,5 months, studied approximately 3 hours per day according to TTP's statistics. What I really liked was the clear structure of course. I find that studying independently would have been a lot harder since there are a lot of topics covered on the GMAT. However, TTP covers virtually every topic in very high detail and provides a plethora of example questions on each one. This allowed to me focus on actually learning the concepts without worrying about not knowing what to study. I will also echo what many others have said, and that is to "trust in TTP". While it seems like a lot of material to cover, working through it all is extremely valuable, and it will provide you with really strong foundational skills. Also, I recommend setting aside more time to study than I did since the course is very extensive (which is a good thing). I booked the GMAT before I began studying, since I was going to take it before my second year in my Bachelor's degree started. In hindsight, however, it created a lot of stress towards the deadline, and I barely had time to finish two practice exams before the actual GMAT. Having another month or two would definitely have been a better idea. In short, I wholeheartedly recommend this course to everyone looking to take the GMAT, and thanks to Scott and the team for creating such a great course!

770 Score: Highly recommend TTP for GMAT Success

September 14, 2023

Strengths of TTP: - Extremely thorough and comprehensive: TTP starts at the most basic concepts for every topic, so no matter what your background is, it'll set you up for success. I've personally hated geometry since the 2nd grade and was especially concerned about this topic on the GMAT. Not only did TTP make me understand the concepts but it also made me actually LIKE geometry more and more as I went through the chapter. While it may seem annoying to have to learn the most basic concepts, I think this is what really ensures that you have an understanding so deep that you are able to tackle whatever question the GMAT throws at you. - Expert help available around the clock: Although I didn't sign up for the live classes or personal tutoring, I was able to get all the help I needed from the TTP team. The experts help to break down the solutions for you when you're really stumped on a question. This was especially helpful for my Quant prep when I just could not wrap my head around a problem. - Schedule and structure: Whether you're studying for the GMAT full-time or only have a few hours to spare each day, you're able to create a customized plan for yourself. The plan also adjusts as you go, so you don't have to worry about how to make up for a day you missed or how to get ahead when you've done a few extra lessons. The only thing I'd add to the course is at least 1-2 full-length practice exams. While the question bank is extremely thorough, taking a practice exam is still a unique experience and an important part of the prep for the GMAT. For me, this was the one piece of the puzzle that TTP was lacking. When I was selecting a course, I chose TTP because it had great reviews and it was a relatively economical option. While I haven’t taken any other courses and therefore cannot speak to their effectiveness, I do think the TTP course gives you a great bang for your buck, and is definitely a more reasonable choice than some of the other courses out there. Overall, the course is excellent and thorough and the team is very helpful. If you truly trust and follow the full course, you can and will get a great score on the GMAT!

Experience with TTP: 740

Finished taking the GMAT recently. Scored a 740 (Q49, V41, IR-8, AWA-6). I used the 4 month accelerated program at TTP. Mocks & Overall Thoughts: In total, I took about 25 Mocks from various sources. The official ones are a must-buy. I made the mistake of using them before using the non-official ones. I’d suggest exhausting all the non-official ones first and then moving on to the Official Mocks. My Quant scores were always 48+, Verbal ranged from 33 to 43. I was targeting a Quant 50 but ended up with a 49 on D-Day. For IR I just familiarized myself with the question types using TTP. It also helped that I deal with very similar graphs/charts at my workplace. My Test Day experience was pretty smooth. I do think that it’s very important to be calm during the test, and going through TTP gave me the confidence I needed to know that I was ready in my preparation. I didn’t really have a timing strategy. In the initial practice phase, I would constantly look at the clock after every question, but I realized that after a lot of practice, I had developed an “internal sense” of time. I switched to looking at the clock just at the halfway mark. This helped reduce my nerves and also kept me “engrossed” in the questions rather than the amount of time remaining. If I felt like a question was taking too long, I’d look at the clock and give myself an additional 30-45 seconds. For Quant, I have a habit of always relying on an algebraic method, because I find it easier and more "automatic" than having to logically think and use smart numbers. I think it's important to diversify the way you approach Quant questions, and I think my over reliance on algebra probably cost me the Q-50. Main Takeaways: a) Quality>Quantity(esp for Verbal) b)Untimed Practice c) Long sittings Materials: TargetTestPrep’s Accelerated Program LSAT for RC OG Advanced Guide GMATCLUB- CR & SC & RC(Topical Practice- Science and Art passages were a menace) The TTP program has an insane number of questions for Quant and Verbal across all difficulty levels. I don’t think you’d need to look elsewhere tbh. For Verbal I did all the Questions on TTP, and for Quant I did around 70-80% of the questions- might’ve gotten the q50 had I done all :( Features about TTP that I liked: 1) The UI is so so good. This stuff really goes a long way over the course of your entire prep. It really helps to not look at something that bores you. 2) Automated Features: The auto error log and lesson plans are super helpful. They really do help save at least 30-40 mins per day, which over the course of 3-5 months compounds and becomes 30-40 hours. Plus it takes away the stress of having to plan stuff. TTP has also put reviews at very specific times. Everything they do and suggest is very strategic. 3) Custom Tests: I used this mainly for quant. I segregated the tests into 2 buckets-> One for wrong Qs, and the other for Qs that I took more than 2 mins on. It’s a great way to a)Get into the testing mode and b)Give you a quick glance at areas you need to focus on. 4) Approach to SC questions: I found their methods very logical and less reliant on “jargon”. Particularly helpful for my learning style, and easy to remember. 5) CR Untimed Practice: CR was the area I struggled with the most. TTP changed the way I looked at CR questions. There were times when I’d spend 20-25 mins on a CR question initially, but in the end, it paid off and I’m grateful that they constantly preach and emphasize the importance of untimed CR practice. Also, I love how they’ve categorized all of the right and wrong answers. Really helps in identifying trends in the answer choices. 6) Streaks Method: This is something they preach for all sections. I neglected this kind of practice for all sections barring RC. A week before my test I knew I was heavily unprepared for RC. For that one week, all I did was the streaks method for hours on end. On my real test, I was lagging by 7-8 qs, and then came a giant Science RC passage. Long sittings of streaks method practice really helped prepare me for situations like these. 7) Chat Feature: The TTP team is extremely wholesome, everyone from the tutors to the tech folks. They will constantly check up on you, quickly respond to doubts, and give you advice and tips. I also love that they constantly upload tips on YouTube shorts. Marty’s tips on sticking to questions no matter how much time they take were really really helpful. 8) Bookmarking: Love the fact that you could bookmark even specific lines from chapters. Really helpful when doing reviews. 9) Content: Extremely vast and deep. Covers every nook and corner there is to this test. Very logical explanations. All in all, if you finish this program you’ll feel extremely confident. Just trust the process and the amazing team.

If you are looking for a great course, especially for quants, look no further. The quant modules are designed exactly to help lay the foundations and help you think like the GMAT question maker. The modules are well crafted, and the explanations/solutions are detailed and very helpful. The verbal modules are quite extensive, and the questions/examples are designed to test the concepts taught. The verbal course also helps lay the foundation and gets you ready to start solving the questions from the OG. Shoutout to Marty for being very responsive, you never feel like the verbal course is one sided. Great UI, excellent error log, immediate response to queries, helpful articles in between the course, and Scott's soothing voice make TTP an excellent course to help achieve your best score possible and enjoy the process of GMAT preparation.

TTP was instrumental in my preparation. They have chapters covering every single little detail, and a huge number of questions to help solidify your understanding of any particular topic. The team at TTP is also very helpful, and they are quick at responding to doubts and queries. Most other places use a lot of technical jargon especially for verbal, but TTP's methods and techniques are way easier to follow and logical. I wouldn't recommend any other platform over TTP.

There's nothing like going to the exam and being super confident that you've covered EVERY SINGLE TOPIC in depth. TTP covers the end-to-end GMAT curriculum. There's a ready study plan to follow. The topics are systematically arranged: you start with the foundational topics and gradually move to the advanced ones. I learned the topics from first principles - beyond just knowing how to get questions right. TTP will teach you the concepts behind the questions. There are thousands of practice questions to ensure you're comfortable with each topic. If you're willing to put in the time and learn systematically, TTP surely is the way. For improvements, I would like more practice questions for the Verbal session. Probably the verbal CR chapters could be shortened. Some verbal CR lessons seemed repetitive.

TTP is a fantastic program and the only thing you need to get a GREAT GMAT score. The verbal section helped me refresh on all of the topics I needed from sentence correction and critical reasoning. They also have reading comprehension but I didn't do those sections. The quant section was the most helpful for me and I have no idea how I would have done it without their modules and tests. In fact, I didn't even complete the course and I don't know how long it would have taken me to achieve my 710 without TTP. I also know that if I were to take all the tests and read all the lessons, I for sure would have been 730+. I just happened to accept the 710 to take a break this application cycle.

When I first started my GMAT prep I had no idea TTP existed and planned to use a mix of different books/resources from a variety of providers. After getting the various materials together, I knew that I was in for a uphill battle and thought there must be a better way. Fortunately, I found TTP after some cursory searching for online programs. After spending more than six months and 500 hours with the product I don't believe there is anything better out there if you're self-motivated and can devote the time to go through the course. Having all the material you need in one place is invaluable and I thought the ability to create custom tests was absolutely essential when it came time to review after I finished the material. I scored a 760 on the GMAT and while I think I could have scored even higher based on my mocks and performance on TTP, I'm happy with the results and can now focus on other aspects of my applications. Give yourself plenty of time by not setting an arbitrary date you need to take your test by. Things happen and in the end you're better off finishing the course and a sustainable pace without the added pressure of a looming test date. Thanks to Scott and team for creating a great product that is effective, thoughtfully designed, and fun to use!
