E-gmat Verbal - An essential course for GMAT prep

May 3, 2017
  • Teacher: Payal Tandon
  • Recommended forVerbal: Yes  Math: No
  • GMAT ScoresBefore: 650 After: 650

My battle with GMAT has probably been one of the longest anyone could ever think of. Back in 2007, I wanted to go for a graduate program and decided to take GMAT. My preparation was based on all the books I could buy and gmatclub tests. After about a year and a half of on-and-off studying and taking the test multiple times, I got 650 (Q49-V31). I was tired of GMAT and decided to pursue my masters with the score I had.
Now, even though I got my masters and a prospective career as an analyst, my passion for school brings me back to GMAT, which is still a long battle for me. However, this time my approach is different. I knew that I need to focus on my verbal to improve my score. Through some recommendations and reviews from members of the gmatclub, I gave e-gmat Verbal Online course a try. So far my experience with it has been great. Different from many other courses that teach tricks and tips on GMAT, e-gmat focuses more on the core skills and the process to tackle each question. These are the points that I like the most about e-gmat. It shows me how going through the basics of the concepts to build a strong foundation and score skills and practicing with the right approach are the way to improve my GMAT verbal. The course has different sections: SC, CR, RC and IR. Each sections explains the concepts in depth. And the approaches taught in each sections are very helpful. I enjoy the CR section the most, especially the process to solve CR questions the course aims to teach. The process totally makes sense to me although it took me some time to change my initial way of solving the question. Interestingly, I also find that I begin to apply what I learn from the CR course to my works. Believe it or not, I get into a habit of determining conclusions and assumptions when in discussions with others.
I see that my verbal skill is improved faster than last time I studied GMAT. By going through each concepts and completing practices associated with the concept, I can solidify my background. By focusing more on the process of solving the question, I can better differentiate the right vs. the wrong choices, helping increase my accuracy. E-gmat also has free webinar discussing about strategies and the like. Those discussions are mind-opening to me. The supporting team is very responsive and helpful. I do feel I have a companion on my GMAT journey with e-gmat and recommend e-gmat Verbal Online to those who would like to improve Verbal skill fast.

Verbal Course for Non-native English speaker

After I decided to take GMAT, I was really struggling about what course and strategy I should follow. While my quant was always strong, I was very worried about verbal. Moreover, I am a very procrastinated person that I thought I would not be patient enough to study by books and study hard if I don't have strong pressure. Therefore, after skimming through many reviews, I decided to choose an e-GMAT Verbal online course and it has never made me regret.

As soon as I had registered in eGMAT Verbal Online course, I was provided with a very detailed study plan that I should follow. This is very helpful for procrastinated person like me. I can organize my study day by day and put pressure on me to finish my study. The course is very well organized by providing class about each concept before giving a number question to practices. The videos are very detailed, giving everything from the basics and how to apply this concept to the verbal questions. This helps me to focus on each concept in each class and practice 3-steps strategy to the questions. The three steps strategy is very helpful especially for SCs to get the right answer in the very short time.
The feature I liked most about the e-GMAT course is that I just need to follow step by step and then improve my skills without struggling about what is the best way for me to study. Of course, I would not say it would be the best way to all GMAT tacklers but e-GMAT gives a free-trials and I think after a couple video, you will know the answers.
As my test is coming up in one month, I'll keep you updated about my score.

A must for Verbal Preparation

April 24, 2017

  • GMAT ScoresBefore: 600 After: 710

I have taken my GMAT recently and Scored 710 (Q50, V36, IR8). Much of its credit goes to e-GMAT Verbal Online Course. I improved my verbal score from V26 to V36. I attempted GMAT last year in January after taking coaching of almost 2 months and scored 600 & was disappointed to see such a low score. Quant was my strong area and I was never worried about that area. I knew that I can do better on verbal but I was not able to improve my score beyond V30. I decided to take the subscription of e-GMAT in July after going through the reviews of e-GMAT and after procrastinating for 6 months completed all the files by Feb 2017. The audiovisual concept files proved to be the lifesaver for me. The concepts were presented in a very simple and effective way. I was able to solve the SC and RC questions confidently & within the optimum time after completing respective modules. After completing the course, I started practicing with verbal scholaranium, a tool introduced by the e-GMAT team with all of its courses, and trust me it is one of the best tools in the market for GMAT questions practice. It gives you the flexibility to choose the type of questions you want to practice. After every quiz, you can check how you fared on the quiz and what are your weak areas. On the dashboard, you can see how have you performed on various areas of the verbal section such as parallelism in SC, Strengthen in CR etc. I would recommend the verbal online course to anyone who is looking to improve his/her verbal score.

Great materials for non-natives struggling with verbal

April 22, 2017
  • Teacher:

  • GMAT ScoresBefore: N/A After: 720

I got a 39 which is a great score for me who is Japanese born and raised in Japan.

Each e-gmat verbal course consists of a number of modules, and each module has a lesson, quizzes, and the list of OG question dealing with the topic. By working on module by module, I was able to grasp the basic, and learn to apply the concept to advanced questions. The course is greatly structured that person like me, who barely has the basic understanding of the English grammar and the rule of paragraph structure, can acquire the concept eventually. I wish e-gamt would have been there when I was undergrad.

Not only the contents, but also the overall functionality of the site is great. The top page show the status of my study ( if the sub module is completed, tick mark appeared next to the title of the sub module, if the sub module contains the quiz, the percentage of the score appeared), and this made it easy to see the progress of my study.

e-gmat offers a kind of quiz bank (called Scholaranium), which has a much better functionality than the quiz bank of GMAC.

Completing all the module definitely takes time, but I really think it's worth the effort.

A comprehensive package for the verbal section

April 18, 2017
  • Teacher:
  • Recommended forVerbal: Yes  Math: Yes
  • GMAT ScoresBefore: 680 After: 730

Not having used GMAT style English at work for a very long time (being a specialist doctor), the Verbal section was not an easy task. During the initial stages of my preparation, the SC and the CR were getting tricky (I had started doing the OG)

So based on reviews on the web (gmat club, beat the gmat), I enrolled for the e-gmat course, Verbal online.

Course structure: The structure of the course is very helpful, starting from the basics and progressing in difficulty.

Content: The content is very elaborate and extensive. In fact, the course covers almost everything the GMAT asks.

Questions: The questions are of all difficulty levels, but arranged in a very good format such that you get a mixture of all levels, as in the real exam.

Scholaranium: This concept is very helpful as I could work on my weaknesses and leverage on my strong areas. The explanations offered are good. Regarding the difficulty level, I found some questions to be of a higher difficulty level with very close choices, something I did not experience in the real exam.

Expert support: I did not post any queries to experts because whenever I found the explanation difficult, the discussion part cleared my doubts. Hence, I would give a high rating to this section.

Overall, the e-gmat verbal course is a must for all non- natives to score above 700 in the real exam. Highly recommend the product to all aspirants.

e-gmat is literally ALL you will ever need for GMAT verbal preparation. The content provided is not only lucid but also very well structured. GMAT verbal seems like a walk in the park with e-gmat. The practice files along with each concept file helps you validate what you've just learnt. A great way to check if you've managed to grasp a particular concept. Another feature "Scholaranium" further helps you sharpen your verbal ability.
SC content in e-gmat tackles EXACTLY what is needed for the exam. CR content works mainly on building your thinking skills and also teaching you about trap answer choices. RC content provides a great approach which definitely helps build your confidence to tackle GMAT RC passages.
Needless to say, I strongly recommend anyone native or otherwise to definitely subscribe to e-gmat verbal!

After a lot of deliberation, I finally chose e-GMAT for my GMAT prep. I have been really pleased by the course structure, and content developed by the e-GMAT team. Overall, the course is very thorough and offers a really good mix of questions across different difficulty levels.

2) Multiple Practice Tests - each concept is rigorously tested via multiple timed and untimed quizzes

3) Excellent Q&A Support - e-GMAT team is very responsive in answering the questions on the forum

4) Scholarium - Awesome Product! Helps us practice topic-wise tests and delivers meaningful insights regarding our performance. A 'must-have' for GMAT prep!

Excellent Verbal Package

April 13, 2017
  • Teacher:

  • GMAT ScoresBefore: 710 After: N/A

I had given by GMAT in 2014 and scored a 710 with 50 in quant and 34 in verbal. However, apart from sheer exhaustion from the long test due to lack of preparation, I had no clue how I ended up with that verbal score. I ended up going through a few books and online material to figure out what the problem was and why my verbal scores were just like a roll of dice, just randomly up or down.

Finally, I came across e-gmat and saw very positive reviews. I just took the free trial and also the webinar. I found the webinar waste of time probably because I had already given GMAT but the free trial was good. I enrolled for the full course and immediately observed a minor improvement due to the stress put on meaning over rules.

What really made a difference to me was, however, the Master Comprehension. It really helped me nail the problem. My comprehension of a question was totally dependent on my mood. Master Comprehension really helped me with the righ t way of comprehending sentences and pausing at the right places, thereby improving my overall comprehension substantially.

I still need to get a little bit faster though with the methodology but in a few weeks I should be able to comprehend faster and also improve my score significantly.

Just one improvement for the course. Though the videos are really detailed, I feel it takes a long time to cover the entire portion. It would be good to condense at some places for effective studying.

Structured and guided practice with e-gmat can help with signficant improvements on GMAT

April 13, 2017
  • Teacher:
  • Recommended forVerbal: Yes  Math: No
  • GMAT ScoresBefore: N/A After: N/A

I am non-native English speaker and my GMAT journey started close to a year ago. Due to a hectic schedule at my workplace, the journey to the finish line kept on getting delayed. I had attempted a few mock tests in the early stages of my preparation scoring 680 () and at that point of time I was bewildered on how GMAT questions seemed fairly tricky to answer particularly in the verbal section. Besides, the study material provided by the regular GMAT prep companies had tons of rules that one had to go through that was quite a mundane process to follow. Even if you read through the book entirely, absorbing it and applying it to questions seemed like an inefficient process for the time invested in it. My friend introduced me to e-gmat course and it seemed to address some of those pain points immediately.

My quant was always strong, and CR and RC were average, SCs just didn't come to me intuitively and I had to put a lot of effort in ensuring my accuracy improves. But each time I would come across an SC in the middle of tests or reading, I would feel relatively less confident and thereby end up affecting my overall verbal accuracy and scores. Videos provided by e-GMAT made them a whole lot of fun. There were in appropriate bite sized chunks that can be watched and absorbed immediately. There were quite exhaustive in nature and you didn?t need another source to clear your concepts if you felt stuck at something. I found the practice of making notes either in a note that you can carry or an online platform extremely helpful. Though I prefer the handy notes, making notes while you go through the videos is an extremely effective way of improving retention.

One of the key features of the course is how it made me believe that there is a method to tackling every question type like there is in quant. It?s not necessary subjective or intuition based as a candidate might feel in early stages. Scholaranium comes with an ?ability? evaluation technique that tells where exactly you stand in a particular section or all sections combined. This has been a very useful tool for me as I was able to do targeted practice for areas I was faltering on.

I could really resonate with what I was being taught in the courses, for e.g. strategy "to get immersed" has immediate benefits to how you Tackle RC. I even used the note making approach during RCs quite regularly and was thereby able to get ALL my main point and structure questions right. Trick lies in being able to internalize the strategies being taught. The course does a very effective job at improving your level for the time and effort invested in it.

As I reach the end of my preparation. I have seen significant score improvements on my mock tests which hopefully I will be able to translate into test day performance. I think structured practice guided in the right direction can tremendously help candidates and that?s what course is enabling, the study plan also gave me a way to hit the ground running once I made up my mind.

Thank you e-GMAT and hopefully, I was able to help a few of you get some clarity around your preparation strategies. Will write a detailed debrief post my GMAT.

Initially, I was quite skeptical about spending 200USD on an online course. But after some of the free videos, I purchased this course without any second thought. Initially, I thought GMAT verbal is more about logic and less about basic grammar and because of that I was scoring V24 initially. Now after going to each and every video of e-gmat verbal two times I am constantly able to score v32 and above. e-gmat verbal videos are very thorough and cover everything that is required to score good marks in gmat exam. I will surely recommend e-gmat verbal online to anyone who is serious about their GMAT exam.
Thanks a lot e-gmat team for making such a wonderful videos.

Takes you to the next level

April 11, 2017
  • Teacher: Payal Tandon, KRISHNA CHAITANYA
  • Recommended forVerbal: Yes  Math: No
  • GMAT ScoresBefore: N/A After: N/A

When i started my preparation, i underestimated my level of grammar. This is when i understood that my school knowledge is far from enough for a good score.

I have read several preparation materials from other sources, like Manhattan, which are very good as well. However, it was not enough for me to memorize all the pages of rules. This is when i started looking for alternatives.

I read about e-gmat on gmat club, plus it was used by some of my friends. I bought the whole package straight away. What i realized during this course us that i did not pay attention to a lot of things while simply reading a book & memorizing rules. Even if i remembered the correct rules, in a lot of cases i did not remember how to correctly apply them & in which cases. Whereas during e-gmat, you begin to have solid understanding of the rules themselves & how to apply them. It especially helped me because i am a person who easily remembers images, rather than texts.

In a very short period of time it helped me to reduce mistakes & increase accuracy on hard questions. I also believe it helped me to speak a better language.

However, it is worth to keep in mind that as it is an online course, you will not be able to go through it faster. If you really want to make the most of it, you will have to sit and listen through all the materials carefully, what is really time - consuming. So i personally think that it could have been done somewhat faster/ shorter, but it is my subjective opinion. This is the only drawback i see, which does not lessen the value of this course.

Eliminate answer choices with Gaurantee

I had been struggling with verbal for a very long time. I am a native english speaker, but I still wasn't doing great at my sentence correction and critical reasoning. Most of the times, I was able to narrow down to two answer choices, but wasn't confident of the answer.

e-GMAT helped mark the right answer choice. I was able to eliminate all the incorrect answer choices not on guess work but with using gmat rules.

e-GMAT's sentence correction module's according to me are the best in the market. They do not use jargons and cover all the possibilities including exceptions. Overtime, you realize that there are a handful of rules that you need to master. e-GMAT will hold you hand and ensure that you understand the concept.

Overall, verbal was always a nightmare for me, but after e-GMAT verbal modules, I got the confidence to solve questions.

I would recommend everyone to try e-GMAT. It will certainly help you with your prep.

I realized I need to do some real work on Verbal as I merely scored V29 on my gmat prep. The problem was that, there are many gmat products out there and I was overwhelmed with choices - naturally I wanted to have the one which would give me maximum impact. Upon reading a lot of reviews online, I decided to give e-GMAT a go.

What I particularly like about e-GMAT Verbal was that it emphasizes understanding the SC question first, rather than plunge oneself into the nitty gritty of grammar rules. It is the first of the 3-step-process (Meaning analysis, Error Analysis, Options Analysis). The approach helped me to improve my SC considerably. Apart from that, the e-GMAT Verbal has a number of quizzes for each of its topics, which further helped me to cement my understanding of that particular topic.

The structured approach in tackling the Verbal questions was something which I found truly helpful.

Learning in a Friendly Non Native Atmosphere

April 5, 2017

I started to prepare for GMAT about 2 years ago. Because of my engineering background I knew the Quant wouldn't be a problem but the Verbal would be my "Everest".
I studied OG and Manhattan but I always scored low in the tests. I almost gave up. Once I saw an e-GMAT ad on Gmat club about one of the free webinars. I registered and joined the class and I loved the detailed explanations through the online class and the prerequisites. I immidiately registered in Verbal course.
Learning through reading is something, but learning through multimedia and interactive courses is whole another thing. Even the stuff you know seems more understandable when you learn it in interactive sessions.
Another thing that I always was worried about was the fact that most of online courses and other sources are written or taught by native English speakers. One unique feature of e-GMAT is that the teachers and instructors are non native and you feel like you are in a friendly atmosphere with a lot of people facing the same problems as you are and the solutions seem practical.
I definitely recommend every one to register in e-GMAT courses or at least attend in one of the free webinars. It will change your approach to prepare for GMAT.

Great Resource for Structural Learning Curve

Being a non-native, preparation in verbal course was necessary and need of the hour. My friend introduced me to e-GMAT and I cannot thank him enough for having done that. The videos provided by e-GMAT are full of adequate content and provide good practice questions. This course has helped me brush up my concepts very well

EGMAT videos are very detailed, they teach me everything from the basics and hand hold me to apply what i have learned to the verbal questions. The scholarium questions are very useful, i am able to customise my own set of questions and drills on areas that i am weak at. The questions also come with very detailed explanations.

The method of teaching is very good as it first test you on your current knowledge about the concept and then tell you about the concept and ten again test you for the same which help solidifying the concept a great deal. the review option of the attempted question help you to keep logs of the error you have committed.

Overall, its a great resource to study and helps you to get your dream score.

Thanks,
