E-Gmat

As a native speaker, I was initially very hesitant about signing up for E-gmat as it seems purely geared towards non-natives. The focus and strength of E-gmat seems to be with the verbal section and not on the quant section. They are widely known for verbal and not so much for quant.

Pros: The scholaranium feature is very helpful to identify weaknesses.
Cons: The videos could definitely use an update and at times seem pretty low budget.

Overall, I think there are better courses out there to help you with the quant section of the GMAT. However, if you are looking for verbal help, this is a good option.

E-GMAT enhanced my skill in Verbal section within two months

I want to highlight some of the key things which I enjoyed in the Quant section as well. After solving all the application quiz and practice quiz from E-GMAT, Official OG question was a piece of cake for me. I really enjoyed all the topics and logic in quant section, especially, in Number properties and word problems.
If you want to score a 700+, look no further. Going through the well explained e- GMAT class. E-GMAT class is detailed and explained in a way that is understandable to any beginner with rusty quant or verbal.

The best Verbal prep for GMAT

April 18, 2018
  • Teacher: e-GMAT

When I first started preparing for GMAT, it was a monumental task for me. Especially the Verbal section. Being a non-native speaker and having just started learning English from High School, I found it really difficult to get to terms with the multiple rules and concepts that English Verbal threw at me. I was always good at Quant, so I wasnt really worried much about it, but verbal was killing my scores in the mocks. I decided that I needed external help to crack GMAT.

My friend recommended e-GMAT to me. I was a bit sceptical at first, I wasnt sure how an online course would help me crack the Verbal part of GMAT. But I decided to give it a try. And boy, I sure am glad that I did. The concepts and techniques outlined in e-GMAT across CR, RC and SC were insanely easy to understand. The content on the platform is phenomenal, especially for a non-native speaker like myself. And the way that every concept is structured, every explanation, backed up with an example and for some common type of questions to look out for in the GMAT was really useful. It is quick to understand and apply in the questions. The amount of practice e-GMAT verbal gave me on each concept, helped me answer questions much easier.

I would highly recommend this verbal course for GMAT prep.

Over the past year, I have been trying to enlist professional help in order to improve my Verbal scores. However, since I work at a remote location, attending classroom sessions regularly was out of the question. Looking for alternatives, I came across the E-GMAT's Verbal Online course in GMAT forums. This course offered me 2 primary advantages:
1. Flexibility: I had total control over when I wanted to study and planned accordingly.
2. Comprehensive and structured: The course covers all the topics of GMAT Verbal with precise presentations yet gives time to internalize the concepts learnt. The self-evaluation exercises at the end of each new concept allowed me to gauge my understanding before moving to the next concept.
The scholaranium is a great repository of questions that thoroughly test the concepts that are taught along with the time factor.
Overall guys, going for this Verbal online course was a very good decision for me.

e-GMAT, an experience that stays with you and gets you going from the start!

When I had decided on the GMAT, I wanted to opt for a local classroom program and felt that it would help me more than an online course can. But oh boy, was I wrong.
I clearly remember sitting though classes and feeling there is nothing new that I am learning. Nothing worth my time. So the more and more time I spend in classes, the more I got disinterested. Finally I tried to give GMAT mocks a shot and ended up giving 2 to 3 MGMAT tests, but I couldn't break the 650 barrier.
Finally, I decided to shelf my MBA dream for a while as my work pressure was on an all time high(at that point), and to be honest, I was clearly disappointed and disheartened.
After a few months had passed by, with the recoomendation of few of my friends who had taken the GMAT before, I decided to give e-GMAT a try and especially after reading all the great reviews on GMATClub, I thought to myself, why not?
I ended up enrolling for the GMAT Verbal Online course and trust me when I say this, I started enjoying the course. Imagine being completely disinterested to suddenly loving the journey. I was eager to learn something new every day,
I was especially impressed by the SC course. I had heard rave reviews about it, but now I totally believed it. Initially I was silly to think that the 'Meaning' approach will not work, but boy was I wrong! I found myself struggling through SCs, because the moment I would read the question and find even a single , I would go for the answer choices and try to eliminate like answers. Soon I realized that I was doing too much back and forth and hence was losing out on precious time. I corrected myself to stay on course and the journey has been great ever since.
The CR and RC courses too follow a similar approach and harp on getting the meaning conveyed as the top prioirity. I cannot agree more. But, for me SC course was the selling point. I was sold with the solid approach eGMAT has to offer.
Currently I am still preparing for GMAT and plan to write it iwithn the coming three moths and gear myself up for it till I deliver.
But I would definitely say that eGMAT is a great place to start. It will remain an integral part of your journey and it is a great confidence booster if you start believing in its ability to change you!
Lastly, all the best to all fellow readers and test takers. Go rock it at your exam. All the very best!

Verbal Online-Excellent GMAT Companion

April 15, 2018

I hail from one of the most represented pool in GMAT community,an Indian Engineer.Just like most other Indian Engineers I am Fairly good in quant ( came quite naturally I must say),but I am not that bad in Verbal as well( may be average). However there was one section in verbal that I dreaded the most,Sentence Correction. The moment I started preparing for GMAT I realized that I was good in CR, ok in RC but was horrible in SC.I thought that with some effort and time I can improve my SC skills .However despite completing Manhattan SC Guide twice my SC was nowhere near the level required to score above 700 in actual GMAT. It was then one of my colleague told me about E -mat. After attending Free Sessions I made up my mind that this course can surely equip me with skills needed to improve my SC.Since I was good in Quant I opted for Verbal Online course(I wanted to learn at my own pace and comfort).I started watching video lessons and each lesson introduced me to an unseen aspect of topic at hand.I will lsit down how video lessons from E-gmat changed the way I used to think and solve the GMAT Question:
A)Critical Reasoning: I was fairly well in CR but after watching E-gmat CR lessons I changed my approach to solve a CR question altogether.I realized the importance of Visualization and Pre-thinking.One can solve any CR question to 80% accuracy with proper pre-thinking.

B)Reading Comprehension:My RC skills improved a lot after watching RC video lessons and incorporating said strategies.Earlier I used to try to save my time by just skimming through the Passage and that used to affect my accuracy a lot. After watching video lessons I learned the importance of understanding a passage thoroughly for improved accuracy.I also started coming up with Main Point of the passage right after solving the passage irrespective if that is asked or not.
C)Sentence Correction:After going through E-GMAT SC lessons my SC skills improved a lot.Earlier i used to overemphasis Grammar instead of Meaning and because of that I used to end up confused most of the time. After going through a lessons I started paying more attention to meaning and it did help a lot.I also used to solve section wise quiz's immediately after completing the lesson and that helped me test whether I am applying learned concepts properly or not.

I had also prepared notes for each lesson so that I can skim through those whenever needed.I also liked the structured approach taught for each type of question and with adequate practice they become your habit to solve specific question. In my preparation Scholaranium also played a very important part as it helped in testing acquired skill under timed condition's.I made a point to solve on Timed test of 12-14 questions everyday. Though I am not done with my GMAT yet but I am writing this review to put forth my experience of E-GMAT Verbal Online with the hope that it would help others like me.

The best preparatory tool to achieve your target GMAT score.

April 14, 2018

I decided multiple times to take the GMAT so as to get into a good MBA school and boost my career but each time i could not carry on with my preparations for the lack of tools and drop in motivation as was to able to get in the preparation rhythm.

I was desperately looking for the right platform to start my preparations, one which could make the initial journey interesting so that i could find my rhythm. I browsed through websites of many preparatory sites and finally came to e-gmat. I registered for the limited free sessions and immediately fell in love with the way the teaching and guidance was provided. I decided that this is the right platform for me to start my preparation.

Without wasting any more time, within a week of trial, i enrolled for their complete online course module and started my preparations to achieve my target score of 740. I am yet to take the GMAT and my preparation is going pretty well.

The best part E-gmat is the way in which they make even the toughest topics look easy and u don't even realize that within a few hours you are already on the verge of mastering the concept and can handle even the toughest GMAT level problems with ease. This method of preparation had boosted my confidence a lot and i can say that i will be able to achieve my target E-gmat score.

I would recommend E-gmat to all those who are still lost in looking for the right platform to start their preparations or are facing difficulty in their preparations. It will surely give you the confidence that you will be able to achieve your target scores.

All the best.

How E-GMAT helped me jump from 700 to 750

eGMAT Verbal Live Prep was the only reason why I was able to show a 50 point increase over the course of my 2 attempts, going from V35 to V40 in 6 months.

I gave my first GMAT in November 2017. I scored 700 (Q51 V35) - very low in verbal and I could see that I needed help with verbal. A friend told me about e-GMAT and how the Verbal section had been instrumental in his rise in Verbal score. I immediately enrolled in eGMAT Verbal Live Prep (VLP) and was provided with a very detailed and systematic study plan that I needed to follow. This plan kept me in check all throughout and made sure that the proper foundations were laid before advanced concepts were introduced. The tutors were very helpful be it moderating strategy sessions, providing lectures via pre recorded videos or answering to the questions posted on online forums and their own question forums. The articles covering various concepts in SC, CR and RC were very well written and have been appreciated by many online forum goers.

I started with SC and I was amazed to see how seemingly straightforward concepts such as SV Agreement, Modifier and Parallelism could be used to make difficult questions. Herein lies e-GMAT's greatest strength: to break down seemingly impossible to understand SC prompts into smaller segments and then analyze in detail each component of the sentence. The videos were very clear and easy to understand.

After SC, I moved to CR. The focus on understanding the conclusion, how premises relate to the conclusion, prethinking, negation technique, etc. were hugely helpful. In GMAT, every incorrect answer is wrong for a particular / solid reason. If you are eliminating a choice without that reason, you will end up choosing incorrect options. eGMAT CR provided the tools to understand why is an option incorrect, be it out of scope, similarly worded but incorrect option, partially correct options, opposite choice, etc. Unless you understand how GMAT can give you incorrect options based on above reasons, you will not be confident in choosing an answer (my situation in the first attempt). e-GMAT's focus on breaking down any argument into its respective elements, understanding the linkages and pre-thinking provided you 70% of the total work required for answering a question correctly. Rest 30% would come from POE of options provided. I was able to increase my accuracy in OG CR questions from 55% to 90%+ with e-GMAT's CR module.

Third step, finishing the RC module, taught me a couple of useful tactics to be an active reader and to be involved with the passage. eGMAT RC also provided the tools to understand why is an option incorrect. Once you become fully engrossed with the passage (by following eGMAT's advice), finding the correct answer via POE became very straightforward.

Finally, VLP also included Verbal Scholaranium and this is an absolute must to complement verbal practice from OG and GMATPrep. Scholaranium comes with an "ability" evaluation technique that tells where exactly do you stand (percentile wise) for a particular section. This was particularly very useful since I was able to do targeted practice for areas I was faltering on. The collection of 600+ questions is an amazingly crafted collection consisting of questions from 3 difficulty levels. The explanations are very detailed and are provided for all the questions and you can even post your doubts and one of the eGMAT experts will respond to your doubts soon enough.

To summarize, eGMAT VLP is a must buy for all non-native English speakers. Thank you e-GMAT team for helping me in tough times and keep up the great work you guys are doing !

Quant Live Program- A review

Representing another engineer giving the GMAT,I knew that Quant would be easier for me than verbal, so initially had signed only for verbal live program of Gmat after reading tons of admiration posts in the forum. But I liked the verbal program so much that I signed for Quant live too and I must say I don't regret it. After attempting diagnostic, I found I was little rust as hadn't touched math/quant since 8 years.

E-gmat Quant Live Program is a really comprehensive course wherein one can quickly brush up his/her concepts and then move gradually to a systematic way of solving questions. From rapid fire questions to the one in the application process where focus is completely on how to solve questions in a timely and by step by step process , these people have done a great job. I think this course se will help people like me who are little rusty as much as those from non-math background. I would recommend this in addition to the official guides.

Cracking GMAT in one go

April 12, 2018

I had joined Jamboree for both English and Maths coaching. As I had a good base in maths, I didn't have to study much but English needed a lot of effort. Even though Jamboree is very famous for physical coaching, it didn't suit me. Reason being their approach was quite formula driven specially for Verbal. Say for example, to solve a SC question I first read the options and strike off the incorrect ones and then look at the question.
When I was introduced to E-GMAT by my friend, I found their approach to be quite simple and effective. Break down the question into multiple phrases and solve it one by one in a methological manner. This helped me a lot in cracking SC and CR.
Another advantage is that I saved time in travelling to the coaching centre, could watch the video anytime I want either on my tablet, on my laptop or on my phone. Their free sessions are actually a blessing in disguise for anyone who wants that one extra thing to crack the exam.
They readily promote it on their website that if we don't like the first 25% of the course, entire fee is refunded. I will definitely suggest everyone to take this and then give a shot to the exam.

As a native speaker but a child of immigrants, I struggled with any sort of verbal section found on standardized tests ie STAR testing and SATs. I mostly focused on my strength which was math and science which is why I'm a chemical engineer. When I started my GMAT journey, I was averaging around V27. My ego got the best of me. I was getting very frustrated because in my mind I should be getting these questions correct since I was a native speaker. I did a prep course when I first started my journey and supplemented with the PowerScore bibles. But my verbal score was not increasing. After attending a free workshop from e-GMAT I was sold on purchasing the verbal online prep because of e-GMAT techniques. I put my ego aside and it was the best decision. After completing most of the e-GMAT verbal online prep, my verbal has increased to 34. I am still not where I need to be on verbal. But after months of struggling I am finally seeing the results after using e-GMAT. Since this course is for non-speakers, e-GMAT breaks down the sentence correction to the basics. I found that the most helpful. I really like the easy to understand videos. And the new interface is great too. I am able to study on my phone during my train ride to work. If you're a native speaker and struggling, I would recommend e-GMAT.

Attractive and Focused Learning : A journey of GMAT with e-GMAT

GMAT exam is more than mere an exam and it requires a special kind of preparation. I am using this Special Preparation term because it demands some extra efforts to build concepts and apply those concepts within short time span. I became worried to even think about this exam in past and the reason behind worrisome was my Verbal skills. However, I mustered up courage after talking to my friend who recently scored 710. He suggested me to subscribe e-GMAT Verbal Online course at first instance and start preparation to master some key skills to ace verbal part of GMAT.

There are many important features of e-GMAT which I liked a lot.
SC: I think Sentence Correction is the most premier section of e-GMAT verbal online course. The interactive video lessons are fun to watch. It helps to build up concepts from very basic level and to apply those learned concepts in post assessment Quizzes. After each module, application of concepts to OG questions boosts th e confidence level. This is highly recommended part of this course
CR: I like this part for two reasons. Firstly, Its pre- thinking approach helps to imagine correct answer before looking at answer choices. Once you grasp this technique, It becomes your second nature to assume answers and relate those answers with given answer choices. Elimination of wrong answers become very easy task after this. Secondly, Content of lessons is very much diverse which helps to understand the different types of topics presented in GMAT test .

RC: I can not be more thankful to e-GMAT team after going through this section. Reading strategies are the most important aspect. These strategies helps to get immersed into different topics and understand the key insights and details in simplest form. This has improved my reading ability to next level and i started 700 level questions with much ease as compared before.

I believe this was the wisest decision to subscribe for e -GMAT verbal course. I learned concepts which are now helping me in my daily life as well. It has improved many skills such as comprehension, evaluation of different scenarios, reasoning critically.

I am thankful to e-GMAT team who come up with such amazing concept of interactive learning. I recommend this to everyone who wants to improve verbal skills exponentially within short span of time. Good luck to everyone.

I started my GMAT prep in August 2017 with an on/off study routine mainly due to work commitments, and naturally was on a lookout for a self-study course. I picked E-GMAT after a thorough online research and reviews from past students as well as my colleagues. All i can say is that it has really helped me in my gmat preparation. My GMAT exam is now scheduled for end of April and I feel confident especially after using their Quant and Verbal Live services.

Both the courses are phenomenal, although I am an engineer, the Quant prep course really polishes the basics on ALL the topics covered under the GMAT umbrella. My GMAT PREP scores increased from 540 to 690 and 720 in 3 months time.

I will post a detailed review after my official GMAT exam.

My journey from clueless to informed

April 4, 2018
  • Teacher:
  • Recommended forVerbal: Yes  Math: Yes
  • GMAT ScoresBefore: 650 After: 700

I am a non-native English speaker who has never come across any kind of verbal questions throughout my life in any of my examinations. I started my prep very randomly. I was in a misconception that the more we keep solving the better we get. It may also be due to the fact that I didn't respect the exam enough. I gave my first GMAT attempt about 6 months ago. I got a 650 (V29 Q48). This was devastating but a good learning experience. The biggest learning for me was that I needed structure to my learning. I have to learn rules and practise them to own them.

I decided to get some guidance. I have been searching many tutoring classes, online material, books etc. but everything seemed to be very overwhelming. Then my friend suggested Egmat. I took the free trial and started doing sentence correction. I was hooked from the word go. The systematic approach to video lessons, application exercise and practice files gave me the much need structure. It is not overwhelming anymore since it took me through the habit learning and application. The OG questions turned out to be the icing on the cake.

I bought the verbal online pack. On buying this I got access to the Quant scholaranium and IR videos. I thought it was pretty generous. I started my prep and within weeks I could see a huge development in my scores. My accuracy in SC and CR have gone up from around 40% to 81%. RCs were a huge help as well. The scholaranium questions helped me get better and faster. By solving the Quant Scholaranium I was getting better in Quant as well.

I gave my next GMAT attempt about a month and a half later. I thought it was pretty hasty but I felt pretty good about it. Though I just got a 700 (V39 Q48); it was more to do with my health condition at that moment. I wrote my exam with suffering from viral fever, sour throat and severe running nose. I owe my improvement in verbal completely to Egmat. My score improved from V29 to V38 in a span of 1 1/2 months. I am very confident that in my next attempt I can secure a very good score. I keep suggesting my friends and colleagues about Egmat. I go to an extent of advising them to just blindly follow Egmat and no other material

Thanks a lot, Egmat for helping me gain confidence and build the capability to ace in my GMAT and thanks to all those who read my review until the very end. I hope I was able to help you gain a perspective on Egmat prep.

Egmat Verbal prep- "Ability" vs "Accuracy"

April 2, 2018
  • Teacher:
  • Recommended forVerbal: Yes  Math: No
  • GMAT ScoresBefore: N/A After: N/A

I started my GMAT journey around April last year ( Note- I am yet to give my test ). I always considered myself very good with the English language as " Excellent Communication skills " was often a phrase highly associated with me and I considered it as my biggest strength too. I was fairly good with CR and RC .... somehow I was lucky enough to start off with an ability of around 60% with these areas... phew! But , I realized that in SC , my grammar was not nearly as great as I thought it was. I joined one of the coaching institutes and while I was studying there, my SC was getting better. The biggest disaster happened when I gave the GMAT prep a break and went back to studying after a good three months. That was the time I realized that the coaching that was offered there was not effective at all as none of the techniques learnt there suck with me and it was as good at starting from scratch. At this point, I stumbled upon someone at an MBA fair who suggested that I explore EGMAT. I bought the Verbal online course but got cracking with it only after a couple of months as I was tied up with some work commitment. I was completely smitten by the in depth explanations and the fun learning videos. The SC section does a complete deep dive into the subject and leaves no stone upturned. The conceptual and structured approach is the best part about the EGMAT course. I noticed that even if i did skip a few days in between with my prep, the concepts stuck in my mind. The best attribute about EGMAT is the factor of "ability" versus "accuracy" that the course focuses on. Not many GMAT test takers are aware of this concept. Previously, I used to gauge my performance based on the number of questions answered correctly but dint know how to get better when my SC was not improving. EGMAT focuses on building and measuring your ability in the respective sections which helps you track your improvement. I will be taking the GMAT up at the end of this month. I feel more confident than ever with my verbal prep and hoping to ace the test!

Excellent Verbal online course for non-native speaker

E-GMAT is a very well-structured online GMAT course. I purchased verbal live online course by recommendation of my friend who was able to improve his verbal score from V31-V32 to V40.

As a non-native English speaking student, I found that verbal section of GMAT was very difficult especially SC which was my greatest weakness. After I finished SC course, I was very impressed by detailed explanations on most tested topics in SC. It made me realized that I had overlooked some important concepts in my previous preparation. Moreover, E-GMAT 3-step solving approach was very practical in the real practice test. It helped me improving my verbal score on practice test significantly.

Another challenge for me was time allocation for GMAT preparation. As a consultant, I normally work for 10 hours on average each day. However, with E-GMAT platform, I was able to access to my lesson or take a quick concept quiz via my smart phone during my trip from home to work.

In overall, I would recommend E-GMAT course to those non-native speakers who wish to excel in verbal sections. Good luck on your GMAT journey!

E-GMAT Verbal is out standing. The most important thing with E-GMAT Verbal is the way the course is structured. It is structured in a most effective way so that one can start from scratch and understand and apply it to the most complicates questions through a step by step process which helps in answering to the questions to perfection. For example, in sentence correction, the step by step approach of Understanding the meaning of the sentence, Error analysis and then process of elimination of answer choices helps you in finalize the answer choice with utmost confidence. The concept practice quiz tests your understanding properly.

Overall this course is of immense help in development of your score.
