Knewton helped me overcome my Verbal Woes.

Coming from India, I have historically been good at quants. Though I would not have said the same about my Verbal abilities. Which is why i took the Knewton GMAT prep course, as I was running short of time. They have structured the course to make it as relevant as possible to today's working class and does not require lengthy lectures and books to master concepts. What I loved the most about Knewton was that surprisingly the topics which they focussed on were actually the ones I saw coming on my actual test.

Have scored a overall 730 on my test. And hopefully my application season will be as exciting as the preparation.

Would recommend Knewton to anyone, especially from non native english speaking countries as it does help a lot.

Hi,

I have scored a 720( M49, V 38). Thank you all for all the help. Please can you inform Lara again that her apprentice 'Mayank' has got 720 in GMAT and also got into top 40 US B-School since she has been constant source of motivation, and helping me with all my doubts.

I improved my score from 650 to 720. The part i most liked about Knewton Course was that you could send you doubts offline and these doubts were addressed within a day.

Thank you all for the support. Really appreciate the effort.

Have a Great Day !!

My first GMAT Prep score was 350 (25Q, 15V). This score was very discouraging since I started studying with GMAT prep books 1 month earlier. Then I saw a Knewton ad that offered a special discount, and decided to purchase the course. One month later, Knewton turned out to be a great investment. I got 560 (40Q, 27V) 5.0 AWA on the GMAT. Thank you Knewton!

Pros:
- The site is user friendly, very easy to use
- Adam and Jason were great instructors. They are very knowledgeable, engaging and successfully made the learning process a lot of fun.
- I love their on-demand classes and office hour
- Knewton definitely has great materials. It improved my confidence on the test day
- Knewton's price is cheaper than other leading prep course, but still offers the same quality

Cons:
- Knewton CAT score is somewhat inaccurate. I kept getting 400 range score, while scoring 500 on MGMAT CAT

I loved Knewton. First and foremost, it raised my score 100+ points from my first practice test. The price was great for all the tools available. I really enjoyed that you could attend all the live sessions from home or you could watch archived classes, so it was very flexible. They had great tips and tricks. Overall, I was very pleased. To note: I found that their practice tests skewed low, score-wise. I think I had never scored above a 610-ish on their practice tests, but got a 690 on the real thing.

Fantastic class that produced results

If you are willing to invest time and energy into this program - it works! On my initial practice exam I scored below 600. After the class, I took the official GMATonly one time and scored a 760 - no one was more amazed than me!

I knew I wanted an online course. I chose the Knewton course because it was designed as an online format. I was leary of some of the traditional instructor led programs that offered an "internet too" approach. In my experience, classroom and online classes require very different teaching techniques. The Knewton class was surprisingly engaging and interactive. It was informative and challenging. Believe it or not - I actually started looking forward to the classes! The instructors were fantastic - true experts.

The "class" is only one part of the Knewton program. There is a large amount of homework to do between classes, both problem sets and full GMAT exams. I did all of it. I took every practice exam, did every problem set. If I didn't do well - I did it again. It isn't easy, but all the tools I needed were provided.

I watched my husband go through business school and realized the GMAT score is a number that doesn't go away after you get into school. Not only is it used for scholarship determination - it also goes on a large number of job applications. Going into the exam I was confident that I had prepared as much as I could. I only took the official test once, and I thank Knewton for that!

If you are looking for an engaging program with expert instructors, tons of support material, personalized attention, and the convience of an online format - I recommend Knewton.

Although I haven't did the Gmat test yet, I can say that this course was the best thing that i could done. I started with diagnostics score of 470 And by the latest CAT my score has improved by 200 Point( it's not the end I Hope).

The quant and verbal lessons were very mostly easy to understand with good amount of examples and explanations by the teachers. The best thing was the recorded sessions that i have used for more than half of the course. This flexibility let you watch couple of different teachers and ultimately decide on the teachers that you understand the most.

Of course, the course is not perfect with it's fare share of technical issues and weird scoring algorithm but all of this are peanuts compared to the value that I gained.

I just wanted to recommend this course to everyone and give a special thanks to the staff (Adam,Chris, Jen R(who was an awesome verbal teacher), Jess N and more.

Thanks guys!

40 Points improve after 3 weeks of Knewton online course!!!

June 24, 2011

Hello everyone,

I had a great experience with Knewton. After attempting Gmat twice (630-650), I decided to take Knewton course.
I am a non-native speaker engineer so my weakness was my Verbal . I didn't have any specific problem with Math, but after two attempts I couldn't improve my verbal (First attempt: verbal=30/Math=46 and second attempt: verbal=30/Math=49). I was really desperate and I didn't know what to do exactly.

Knewton really helped me. I took the online courses and as I was working during the day I couldn't follow the live courses so I only followed the VideoOnDemand courses. They were excellent, they very clearly explain the GMAT approach and the concepts needed to attack the questions. The website is very well designed and at any point it gives a clear view of the progress and what is left to do.
I really enjoyed everything about this system. Specially the verbal concepts which were very well explained.
The only small draw back would be the level of math questions, although the main concepts and the approach are well explained I think someone who is not very good in math would need more exercise and detailed explanation.

I followed the courses for 3 weeks and I couldn't finish everything before my exam. I went through all the videos and finished 4 CAT tests without finishing all the homeworks.

In the end I improved my score from 650(v30/m49) to 690(v35/m49), and I think if I had more time I could even do better.
In addition to Knewton I used OG12 and Manhattan SC, in my opinion both of the books are essential for a high Gmat score.

One last point: The Knewton CATs scoring system is not very exact but it pushes you to perform better. When you perform well the scores go up and the questions get difficult so don't get discouraged if the scores are not as high as you expect them, keep working and you'll improve them. Most of my scores before the real test were around 640(On last CAT I got 670).

I would really like to thank the Knewton team, they are doing a great job and I really enjoyed their system. I would recommend without hesitation this course to anyone who is preparing for GMAT.

I used Knewton Prep Course in 2009. I enjoyed it very much that I even recommend it to my friends when they asked me for tips to study GMAT. It helped me to increase my score from 710 to 750, which I think I can't possibly do it on my own.

Also the online course it offers is very flexible. I can review it any time I like.

If you value the ability to schedule a prep class around your schedule, Knewton is for you.

I think the greatest advantage of the Knewton course is the optionality it provides. By this, I mean you are able to take the class at times that fit your schedule and select teachers that fit your learning style.

In my case, I took a liking to Jen's teaching style in verbal and Steve's teaching style in quant. This is no slight to the other teachers - all seemed very competent. However, being able to sit in on classes and develop a sense of familiarity with someone that I thought was getting through to me was valuable.

The concept queue is great when you are trying to fit quick study sessions in at random times throughout the day. It's the equivalent of having a study deck of cards at your fingertips without having to take the time to create them yourself.

The other side to not having a physical classroom is that the course-taker will need to be disciplined in order to stay up with homework, class sessions and additional study. At times, I found myself disengaging while in the virtual classroom just becuase I could.

Overall, a great experience. I would highly recommend Knewton and its professors to anyone preparing to take the GMAT.

Excellent value for a truly amazing prep course with outstanding instructors.

Cant say enough positives things about my experience with Knewton. When I first decided I wanted to take the GMAT, I knew I would need a prep course to aid me in doing so. I had recently read an article in Bussiness Week that compared five different prep courses, one of which was Knewton. The article seemed to favor Knewton. That, along with the slightly lower price tag, when compared to competitors, had me sold. I loved how Knewton gave me a sneak peak into the course and a free test before even signing up. After my trial test, I decided to go with Knewton. When I started the course,
my diagnostic score was 500. When I took the test after completing the Knewton course, my score increased to a 700.

Things I loved about Knewton:
- The course is extremely flexible. Because it is online, you can view the class at a later date if you are unable to make the meeting time. I do, however, feel like it is more valuable to watch the instruction live because you have the ability to be more active in the class and ask questions.

- I found the participation in the class to be extremely helpful. For example, after covering a particular subject, the instructor will give you a question and you solve it, then they go over each answer. It gives you an idea of how well you are retaining the information.

- There are endless practice problems! The system tracks which subjects you are understanding and which you aren't so you know where to focus your attention. I love graphs and statistics so this was perfect for me. You can log on an see progress graphs of each subject an topic.

- The class really keeps you on pace as long as you follow the assignments and do the practice tests and problems.

- Instructors are great! Super smart, obviously, and surprisingly really funny! They made the class so much more enjoyable.

I could really go on and on about Knewton; I think it's an awesome program. I've been recommending it to friends ever since my experience!

I took the GMAT about eight years ago, right before I finished my undergrad. When I decided to start studying to take it again this year, I scored well below my previous score on a GMAC practice test.

I selected the Knewton course because of the go-at-your-own pace format, and the price seemed good. After taking the course, I believe it was an excellent value. I started the course later than I probably should have (only studied for about 10 weeks), and still managed to obtain the minimum score I was aiming for.

The instructors are enthusiastic and extrememly knowledgable. (I especially enjoyed Jen and Dave!) Quant has always been my weakness, but they were able to teach me a few new tricks that I believe really helped to improve my score.

Effective GMAT Tools

Hey everyone,

I opted for the Knewton Online GMAT Prep. I believe Knewton is as good as any other course out there when it comes to teaching the basics. Since I had already taken a GMAT test prior to my Knewton course, I had some kind of basic knowledge. While my basic knowledge was strengthened, the more useful part were the small but very smart tools and strategies that enable you to recognize the question type right away. The approach saves you a whole lot of time and the pressure is definitely eased. According to me, its these strategies that made all the difference for me. Additionally, there is a choice to re-visit the lessons and that too with a different faculty member. For example, I always felt comfortable with the more "analytical" approach of Adam (for quant). I would make it a point to go back to all lessons wherever I could get Adam! Some people might think of his approach as very detail oriented but I really appreciated that. As for verbal, Jen was outstanding and her approach worked for me! At the end of it, Knewton worked for me because their approach was not "hard work" but "smart work"!

I really enjoyed taking all the classes online with live teachers helping me out. The classes were entertaining so it didn't feel dry and boring. I actually enjoyed learning from the teachers and other members of the class.

I really enjoyed that if I had to work late or had a team commitment that I had to go to, that I was able to access archived classes and take at my own pace. This also allowed me to be able to go back and review the items that I was still confused on.

I really liked how they gave you all the materials, questions, cheats and background information for the test. I felt that all the information provided was accurate and up to date.

Overall this is a great way to take the GMAT prep course on your own time and schedule, especially with the busy lives that everyone seems to have these days.

Thank you to Knewton GMAT Test Prep for making it easy to learn and prepare!

I did my GMAT course from Knewton last year. I?ve managed to get close to the kind of scores I wanted to get to and wanted to thank the Knewton team a huge lot, for the same!

I took my GMAT on 11th Dec 2010. My score increased from 500 to 660 and a huge part of the credit goes to you guys, for ?

1. Great instructors &
2. A great course, including
a. User friendly delivery (i.e. taking the classes from comfort of home & at a timing of one?s own choice)
b. Designing a wonderful course on the on-line delivery mode
c. A feeling of healthy competition amongst the participants, which had me glued on
d. The graph which shows concepts mastered in smallest units, so I knew what I was yet to cover up
e. One can watch the recorded vidoes of classes & each concept any no of times, to grasp the subject
f) Equally great instructors both for Verbal & for Quantitative
g) GMAT-like simulated tests with complete explanations

Even the videos on the Essays were very helpful & I finally got a 5.5 in both the essays.

I passed my graduation in 1994 & my 2 year full time MBA in 1999, i.e. I am out of touch with my studies since last 11 years or so. So, coming back from there to the world of GMAT was a huge challenge. The Knewton guys definitely made it easy for me!

I would also like you to know that I wanted to apply for the full-time doctorate level course of one of the most prestigious institutes in India, Indian Institute of Management Calcutta and I have got through the same after my application process & interviews.

To the Knewton team - All of you are doing a great job of helping students catch up with their dreams. Keep on doing the awesome job you are doing!

It's actually only my second day of studying with Knewton, and I just finished my first class. Earlier in the day they sent me an email offering a Knewton tshirt for writing a review here.

At the end of the day, I'm sure that every one of these course prep companies is just fine, and will teach you what you need to know, provided you're Iwilling to do the work to learn it.

So the question is *how* you want to do that work. What way of going about it would be best for you?

I don't know you, but I know me. If you give me the tools to answer my own questions, then I'm not going to sit around holding my hand in the air. If I can express something in an email, I see no point in calling a meeting. If I can do the work at home, preferably without pants, then why would I want to drag my hungover ass out of bed to some office just to listen to inane water cooler banter?

Either you're a self-directed learner or you're not. If you are, then you should consider Knewton. If you're not, but know how to set yourself a recurring weekly invitation on your gmail calendar, then you should consider Knewton. And if you can't do that, then you're one of the people I'm going for my MBA to try to get away from...

The live video classes are really well done and engaging, and the supplementary tools are awesome. Everything automatically adapts itself to you and the work you've done so far...It's just a question of if you're willing to do the work...on a computer...connected to the internet. Is that so much to ask?

Here is why I think knewton is the best GMAT course out there:

1) it's structured and frequent. you can't take days off if you want to keep up with the teachings
2) it's flexible - if you do miss a day, you can login and watch the recorded version of the lecture
3) it's affordable - much less than in-person classes
4) it's guaranteed. if you don't increase your score by a certain amount, they give you your money back

You have nothing to lose and so much to gain. I'm glad I enrolled!

Knewton was excellent for me, because I had certain areas of the math curriculum I knew I needed a lot of help on. Since they have an adaptive system, you get questions targeted to the specific things you need to work on, and you don't have to waste a lot of time on things you already know. This was helpful for me because I knew I was strong in certain areas, so I didn't want to use my time inefficiently on a course that would weight everything equally.

- The teaching is good but not deep enough in detail. To really prepare it is more necessary to work on one's own. Try instead of Knewton the gmat book collection its that best with the critical reasoning review. Knewton should write books or pdf to prepare students to more theory. The website needs a lot of progress, the algorithm of the CAT was completely off (scored 620 on Knewton, and 710 on the real exam).

Experienced Teachers: Knewton has group of awesome teachers. They know the nuances of GMAT and explain in detail where the student can improve their scores.

User-friendly Website: Tons of excellent material. I like the concept queue which helps me in building the fundamentals in a very short time. Progress Graphs is very beneficial in analysis in which area a major effort is required.Excellent video explanations. The biggest advantage is "It's all Online".

Value for money: Online course is offered with full 1 year access and compared to other courses, Knewton offered the course that I could easily afford without having to compromise in the quality.

Money back guarentee: Knewton guarantees an improvement of at least 50 points on the GMAT, which is I guess incomparable in the market.
